“Eragon” by Christopher Paolini

FROM A KINNELON LIBRARY TEEN REVIEWER:

Eragon, a new Dragon Rider, comes to life quite by accident. When traveling in the Spine, a cursed mountain range, where nobody but he can dare to hunt in without suffering from some kind of freak accident, he becomes engaged in a magical battle against the evil King Galbatorix when he finds what he thinks is a polished sapphire stone, but turns out to be a dragon egg stolen from the vaults of the King. To make things worse than they already are, the egg hatches and the dragon within decides that Eragon is to be her Dragon Rider, whether he likes it or not. Full of adventure and mystery.

Thanks for your comment! I’ve heard something similar from lots of teen readers — that is, that Eragon is a must for fantasy fans, particularly fans of the Harry Potter series.

And you’re absolutely right. The Eragon movie is due out on December 15th, just in time for the holidays. Here’s the link to the website if you can’t wait until then. πŸ™‚
