Wow, I can see you really enjoyed “Wolf Rider.” That’s terrific! Here in Kinnelon, “Wolf Rider” is on the summer reading list for kids going into the 8th grade. All the reviews also indicate that it should be a good book for, as you said, young teens, in about 7th grade and up.
As you probably know, Avi has written lots of books, mostly historical fiction. If you’re interested, take a look at his website. Thanks for sharing your opinion!

I was on the edge of my seat reading this book. I have to admit I would have changed the ending at first, but as I thought of it more and more, I liked it more and more

It was a great book, it was something neat to read. Mostly because I don’t actually read mystery books. But I like that I was always wondering what was going to happen next, but then when i got to the end I had got a little confused so I had to read it again to get a better understanding. One thing I thought when I was done was that it should have had a little more about Nina in the book. Exspecially when Dr. Lucas (Zeke) was suppose to meet Nina at the Old Chapel. I thought that she should have jump in there. But I really recommand this book to all ages.

The book was a good book. It’s very shocking and keeps you interested. The book sucks you in at the beggining when Andy gets a mysterious phone call sayin that they just killed someone. If you love mystery then it’s a good book for you, and you wont be able to put it down.

I didn’t enjoy Wolf Rider. I thought it was very unrealistic and very boring. I read this for a novel study in 8th grade – thought it was uninteresting.
Andy is supposed to be 15, and I don’t think teenagers really take those kind of phone calls that seriously. For me, in my opinion, he acts kind of childish. I seriously kept thinking he was 10 or something while reading the book. Like he was some sort of Encyclopedia Brown trying to solve a mystery just for the sake of it.
All through out the book, he keeps saying that tracking down Zeke was all for Nina’s sake because he wanted her to be safe. I find this a bit ridiculous because he barely knows Nina, and all he knows about her is that she’s real pretty and all. That’s it.
I think it’s very unrealistic that EVERYONE doesn’t believe him, and just thought he’s gone cuckoo. He’s 15 and responsible, not a rebel, very good in school. NO ONE believes him.
Hmm… Characters need to be shaped up a lil’ bit. Need some background for Phil Lucas, like… Why in the world did he do this whole hullabaloo in the first place?? It tells he’s been working hard for his life and all, but I feel like he needs more explaining.
…And Sally was just… there. Yeah.
The suspense and build-up was good, the plot was okay, but the climax was like 2 pages long. In my opinion. Lucas captures Andy. While staring at a knife that may possibly kill himself, and while possibly traumatized and scarred for life, Andy feels the need to pee. Something goes wrong. Car goes berserk. Everything just screams DEATH. Then BAM! Said car goes toppling over the cliff, ending Lucas’ life just like that. Everyone’s horrified. Nothing will be the same ever again. THE END.
Ooh, and about that cufflink…
Would rate Wolf Rider 2/5. Didn’t really capture interest, y’know?
